1. Meets
will be scheduled between September and November.
Special emphasis will be placed on avoiding conflicts with other ACC
academic and athletic events.
2. Meets will be open to all
students who are members of an ACC member organization as well as students
and teams from like organizations within Arkansas.
3. Divisions will
set determined based on the specific age requirements as adopted by the
ACC. a. Elementary - cannot turn 13 before September 1 of the school
year in which they compete. b. Junior high - cannot turn 16 before
September 1 of the school year in which they compete. c. High school -
cannot turn 19 before September 1 of the school year in which they
compete.
4. Meets will consist of the following races:
a.
High School Boys 5K (approximately 3.1 miles) b. High School Girls 4K
(approximately 2.5 miles) c. Jr. High Boys and Girls 2.5K
(approximately 1.5 miles) d. Elementary Boys and Girls 1.5K
(approximately 1 mile)
5. Meets will be hosted by an ACC member
organization and will be held in various locations determined by the
host.
6. Teams will consist of a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 7
runners from the same division (i.e. 5 High School Boys or 7 Elementary
Girls).
7. In the event that a member has more than 7
individuals participating in a single age division, two or more teams may
be formed. However, only one team per division from each member
organization will be allowed to participate in the conference / state
meet. The number of individuals competing from each member
organization is unlimited.
8. In the event that there are not
enough runners to meet the minimum team requirements, runners will compete
as individuals but will not count in the team scoring as a team member or
a displacer. All competitors will be required to declare the
organization they represent, regardless of team status.
9. Team scoring
will use the following format: a. Each team will be allowed a minimum
of 4 and a maximum of 7 runners. For team scoring 5th and 6th place
finishers will then act as displacers.) b. The first six runners from
each team to complete the course will be assigned a score based on their
order of finish in the overall standings. For example, 1st place=1
point or 10th place=10 points. c. The team score will be based on the
total score of that team’s first four runners with their 5th and 6th
runners acting as scoring displacers. (That is to say that the 5th
and 6th runners are assigned points but they are not factored into the
team score.) d. The first place team will be that team with the
LOWEST point total for their first four runners. In the event of a
tie, the fifth runner from each team will determine the winner. In
the event that neither team has 5 runners, the combined score of the first
three runners will determine the winner.
10. Both individual and team
awards will be given at each meet.
11. In order to cover the expenses
associated with the meets, an entry fee will be required for each
meet. Events hosted by PCHEA (including the ACC / State Meet) will
have a cost of no greater than $10 per individual or $35 per 4-7 member
team.
